5 Things You Should Know This Week

1. Monday, June 10, is the last day of classes for students attending New York City public high schools. The following two weeks of school, students will be taking Regents exams.

2. MTA Weekday Planned Service Changes: Beginning Wednesday, June 12 through Friday, June 14, Jamaica Center–bound J trains run express from Myrtle Av to Broadway Junction.

3. This Tuesday, June 11, at 6:30 p.m., you can learn how to brew your own beer! Class is held At Bitter & Esters, 700 Washington Ave., Bklyn. See map. They’ll teach you all the basics to get you up and running while brewing a batch of beer. You’ll learn about extract brewing, malts, grains, yeasts and how to avoid or 
troubleshoot the most common problems. All reference materials will be 
provided as well as a home brew sample for tasting!

4. On Wednesday, June 12, at 10:00 a.m., the Northeast Brooklyn Housing Development Corporation (NEBHDCo) will offer a sneak peek of its soon-to-be opened Golden Harvest Client-Choice Food Pantry located at 376 Throop Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant (Brooklyn). 

5. Also on Wednesday, June 12, at 7:00 p.m., come celebrate Black Music Month with outstanding percussionist and resident of Bed-Stuy, Shawn Banks  along with the fabulous bassist Robert E. Daniel. The event is a part of the Classic Jazz Duet Series, and it will be held at House of Art Gallery, located at 308 Marcus Garvey Blvd. in Brooklyn.
