5 Things You Should Know This Week

Weight Watchers enrollment, R&B singer Ledisi in concert and a fundraiser for Walter T. Mosley

1. R&B Crooner Ledisi will perform in Brooklyn on Monday, August 13, as a part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. free concert series. The concert is at Wingate Field, with entrances on Brooklyn Avenue between Rutland Road and Winthrop Street. The public is encouraged to bring their own chairs. A limited amount of general seating is available on a first come, first served basis. The program begins at 7:30pm.

2. On Monday, August 13, at 6:00 p.m. is the Weight Watchers enrollment at the Bedford YMCA, located at 1121 Bedford Avenue.This group meets weekly at the YMCA. At the Weight Watchers meetings, participants receive all the information they need on eating healthy, plus get the guidance they need to stay health.

3. On Monday, August 13, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., the first round of Public Hearings of the New York City Districting Commission begins this Monday at Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Stret, Bklyn, NY.

4. Learn about job resources for formerly incarcerated people on Tuesday, August 14, at 6:00 p.m. at the Marcy Library. Gain job radiness skills and learn about your rights as a job seeker with a conviction on your record. Topics covered include filling in the gaps on your resume, answering questions about conviction and learning employment law. Marcy Library is located at 417 ekalb Avenue.
