5 Things You Should Know This Week

Zumba with Shayla, landmarking Bed-Stuy and the circus comes to town!

1. This and every Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m., take a Zumba class with Shayla at Fashion Rock, located at 372 Tompkins.Ave (corner of Putnam Ave). Zumba is a great, calorie burning, Latin inspired fitness party for all ages, sizes and fitness levels. Zumba is about having fun while working towards a healthier lifestyle.

2. Beginning Wednesday, March 20, Barclays Center will host Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, featuring lions, tigers, elephants and acrobatics! Show times and ticket prices will vary. For more information, click here.

3. Also this Wednesday, March 20, there will be a Landmarks Information Forum for Bedford-Stuyvesant residents who wish to better understand what landmarking areas of Bed-Stuy will entail. The meeting is at Restoration Plaza, located at 1368 Fulton Street, lower level, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

4. On Friday, March 22, The Noel Pointer Foundation Youth Orchestra will host a collaborative concert with the Brooklyn Conservatory to perform George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” at St. Ann and the Holy Trinity, located at 157 Montague Street, Bklyn, NY

5. Also on Friday, March 22, the Macon Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, located at 361 Lewis Avenue, will screen “Sister Rosetta Tharpe: The Godmother of Rock & Roll,” 4:00 p.m. in its African American Heritage Center, Main Floor.
