Street cleaning rules suspended, major changes on MTA lines running through Bed-Stuy and Fracking law expires

"5 Things You Should Know" will jump-start you into a productive week. Be the first to know about parking changes, traffic changes, important meetings and the hottest events in Bed-Stuy:

1.     Street cleaning (alternate side parking or ASP) rules are suspended today, Monday, Memorial Day, May 30, 2011.

2.     Weekday MTA Service Changes: The A Line—Nights, 11 PM to 5 AM, Tue to Fri, May 31 – Jun 3, Uptown A trains run express from 59 St to 125 St. Nights
12:01 AM to 5 AM, Wed to Fri, Jun 1 – 3, Brooklyn-bound A trains run via the F line from West 4 St to Jay St-MetroTech. The G Line-- No G trains between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts and Church Av. A and F trains provide alternate service via Jay St-MetroTech. Nights, 11 PM to 5 AM, Tue to Fri, May 31 – Jun 3; G service operates in two sections:1. Between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs; 2. Between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts, every 20 minutes. To continue your trip, transfer at Bedford-Nostrand Avs. The M Line-- 11 PM to 12 midnight, Tue to Thu, May 31 – Jun 2; Uptown M trains run express from West 4 St to 34 St-Herald Sq.

5.     A reminder that on June 1, 2011, the executive order that placed a temporary moratorium on fracking in New York State is set to expire. You can take action and request that Gov. Cuomo extend this order here on the Riverkeeper website. Regardless of what you think politically, safe drinking water to anyone within the New York State watershed system should be a priority. Please take a moment and lend your support and voice to this incredibly important issue that faces our state and all of its wonderful natural resources. We can expect a report in the summer covering what the DEC has found thus far, but it is imperative that we keep the pressure on politicians to take a stand on fracking.
