The Good News: The real reason for the season.

The Good News celebrates, good news!

For those of us who are now enjoying the holiday season I am mindful that it is an important time of the year for Christians, Jews and Muslims. It is also a moment of excitment to those who look forward to the KWAANZA clebrations that will take place soon. Some floks are not particularly religious but are indeed enthusiatic and even nostalgic about this very tradtional and sentimental time of the year.

Whatever ones reason is for being happy about this time of the year, have a wonderful holiday season and try to remember what we in the Church of Jesus, Christ should remember, "the real reason for the season". Its not about the commercialism, materalism, advertisments, anxiety and finanicial over-indulgence that is so common in December. Rather this season, in the Christian tradition is to remember  our belief that Christ came into the world, poor, without wealth, position, privledge or prestige. Indeed Christ came to birth in Bethelhem to bring the "Good News", that no matter who you are and or what you are or are not , God loves us, unconditionally. That's the reason I get so happy during this wonderful season, because the Good News is that we are so loved by God that, God can look past our faults and see our needs.

Is that not a reason to celebrate!

Chris Rock said it best, African Americans are shown more 'love' for doing a 'bid' and getting outRead More of prison than to graduate school with a degree. When this 'hood mentality' starts to change, then you will see more than a trickle of AA passing advanced math courses.
