DIVAS bring STEAM Camp to Bed Stuy for Social Change

DIVAS for Social Justice will be hosting a summer STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Camp in Bedford Stuyvesant from July 1-23, 8:30-5:30, Monday through Friday, for youth ages 8-14. The camp will have interactive workshops in digital media, robotics, application design and much more. Here is a description of some of the featured workshops:
STEAM Workshop- STEAM Workshops will be the study of digital media
(photography & video) and obtaining engineering skills through robotics
and math. 
Hunter College Design Lab- In conjunction with the STEAM Workshops
youth will create an application for  using code. The youth will design a
project that is in conjunction with Michelle Obama’s, “Let’s Move”
Initiative. 
Community Service Trips- DIVAS for Social Justice will conduct two
community service trips for youth to learn the importance of civic engagement.
Fun Trips- Youth will take trips to theater performances and museums as well as technology labs.

At the end of the camp session, DIVAS will present Bed Stuy's very first STEAM Awards where youth who participated in this program will showcase their finished projects from the camp to the community.

DIVAS for Social Justice will be having Open House STEAM event on June 15, 2013 where community members can meet the facilitators of the camp and participate in interactive STEAM workshops and register for the camp. The Open STEAM House will take place at:
