Learn To Draw With Ink – Sept. 17, 2013 – Ages 18 and Up
Drawing Ink Myths – This 8 week class will concentrate on learning to draw with ink through the bamboo ink pen and brushes. Various techniques will be introduced through demonstration, looking and learning. The art of the bamboo ink pen and brush may be found in ancient cultures and contemporary art. Ink drawing has a quality like no other which is timeless, classical as well as bold and able to translate contemporary complexity and emotion. Classes will incorporate studying art and discussing mythology in cultures both east and west.
Each class of the eight week session will focus on strengthening bamboo ink pen and brush techniques as well as serving to deepen insight into particular art works through out collective cultural history that have employed the technique.
Classes will be conducted as a group effort as well as one that will focus on individual needs and concerns with the aim of opening up creativity to new levels. Great course to take with a partner and great way to make new friends in the neighborhood! Beginners welcome.

Instructor Liz Insogna is a painter that lives and works in New York. She has a BFA in Sculpture from SUNY New Paltz and studied painting at Lorenzo De Medici School of Art in Florence, Italy. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. Her work has appeared in such publications as The New York Observer, Beautiful/Decay, Art Critical, and NY Arts Magazine. She is also a teaching artist at The Frick Collection and contributes often to Arts section of The Huffington Post.
