VIDEO: Discovering the Best of Bed-Stuy!

More than 50 municipal agencies, service organizations and local merchants were on hand

Thursday, June 7, was the Sixth Annual Discover Bed-Stuy Resource and Safety Expo at Boys and Girls High School.

The annual expo was a chance for local residents both unfamiliar and familiar with Bed-Stuy to tap into the the many services and programs available in the neighborhood.

More than 50 municipal agencies, such as FDNY, NYPD, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Department of Consumer Affairs and HPD were on hand, as well as local service organizations, a Kid's Corner, Food Court and a shopping plaza.

The Barclays Center (Forest City Ratner) came out to provide information on their job fairs, which will begin in July. The Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA, Vanguard Urban Improvement Association, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, and the Fresh Air Fund also distributed information about services for the entire family.  

Also for local for home-owners, renters and business owners, Bridge Street Development Corporation, Neighborhood Housing Services of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, and Pratt Area Community Council were available to align people with services and workshops that will help residents adopt best-practices for managing their mortgages and help business owners better leverage the local economy.
