Sista's Place

Music and Culture for Locals

A hip, cozy spot nestled in the heart of Bed-Stuy, Sista's Place is there for all your jazz, blues and poetry needs.

Reminiscent of a modern day speakeasy, the walls are flanked with jazz legends such as Billie Holliday, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Miles Davis.  Modern day musicians such as Barry Harris and Roland Alexander have also joined the wall of previous jazz greats.

One wouldn't think that this place is a restaurant by day and transformed into a jazz pub at night. That's what makes Sista's Place so great, along with the fact that it's located right next door to the Freedom Party's headquarters. The staff is warm and friendly, instantly making you feel like family, once you walk through the door.

With more than 15 years of showcasing pure talent, Sista's Place can be described as an eclectic lounge with a café-type feel.  Offering a variety of desserts, spirits and trendy art, Saturday nights are the highlight with two sets, beginning at 9pm and the last set at 10:30pm. Patrons are treated to a variety of artists who use Sista's Place as a platform for their music to be celebrated.  Instead of traveling to midtown or to Harlem for that jazz fix, stop by Sista's Place first.

The scene is intimate and the artists are more than welcoming, conversing and making rounds with patrons between sets. Engaging discussions about the history of jazz and black culture are the norm, while political messages can be spotted outside the establishment.
