This Week at the Movies: World War Z, Monsters University

Looking to see a movie? Here's the latest shows at Oak Park's Lake Theater, as well as other nearby theaters.

Looking to see a movie this weekend? Court Street Theatres offer a lot to like.

Playing this weekend (June 21-23)

World War Z (PG-13) stars Brad Pitt in this novel adaptation about a war against zombies. Sounds cool, but the zombies look a bit too I Am Legend-y for my taste. Playing in 3D and 2D.
Monsters University (G) returns the cutest monsters since Gremlins, Mike and Sulley (voiced by Billy Crystal and John Goodman) in this animated prequel about their monster college. Playing in 3D and 2D.

Man of Steel (PG-13)

is Superman's return to the big screen. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane star as the parents of Clark Kent, played by Henry Cavill, in the film produced by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight). Playing in 3D and 2D.
This is the End (Not rated) has an all-star cast that includes James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogan, Jay Baruchel and Danny McBride, who star as themselves in a comedy about six friends trapped in a house after chaos hits Los Angeles.

Now You See Me (PG-13) is about four illusionists pulling off heists on corrupt business leaders. Their greatest trick (OK, I mean illusion...tricks are something a ... well, never mind) is robbing a bank on stage. It looks entertaining, but their boldest move is probably naming the movie "Now You See Me." What if no one does?
