This Sunday: Vodou Bar to Hold Community Artist Showcase

It's hot out there!!! Looking for something to do this weekend that is low-key, classy and local?

Check out Vodou Bar for beautiful art, delicious cocktails and great energy, featuring artists Maya Farrow, Anthony Jay Falcon and Zola Zakiya, who will be exhibiting some of their best work.

WHO:
Maya Farrow-- She paints passionately and vividly, using canvases, acrylic paints and tools such as knives and metal to create shapes and blends. She expresses energy and eccentricity in every piece she creates. Although her focus is the woman form, this collection itself was inspired by one of her idols and world renown artist Gerhard Richter.

Anthony Jay Falcon-- He is a master of portraits for the homeless. After bouts with homelessness, Falcon's talent and inspiration became clear: He wants to convey the homeless as the people with stories and great wisdom to share. He uses water colors, pens and ball point pens to create amazingly detailed portraits both on wood and paper.

Zola Zakiya-- She is a spirit artist who develops work based on life challenges, cultural symbols and meditation. Her "Game of Life" series is based on choices, strategies and relationships that people develop along their life paths. She uses raw wood scraps as her game board, makes shapes with neon acrylic paints and uses chess pieces and dice to represent the different roles we have in life as well as our personal struggles.

WHAT: Community Art Expo

WHEN: Sunday, July 7, 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
