PHOTOS: New 3-D Mural Installed on Malcom X Blvd

Out of rubble comes a work of art

If you've ever walked up Malcolm X Boulevard, between Decatur and MacDonough, maybe you've noticed it: the boarded up front of an abandoned lot right next to Liquid Oz.

Two years ago, the building that took up the lot caved in from the back. Although it is no longer in use, the weathered and decaying facade remains in the same spot-- an accepted fixture almost, but still a stain on the block's developing business district and overall architecture.

Well, it looks as though someone finally got tired of accepting rubble as part of the scenery. On Saturday, June 16, a visual artist known only as RAE decided to turn the old wooden slates that cover the lot into a live art, 3-D mural-- something the community could enjoy until the abandoned lot is brought back to life.
