Afro-punk Festival is back this weekend-- bigger and better than ever!

After a one-year hiatus (due to Hurricane Irene), is back this year, bigger and better than ever!

This year's festival will take place this weekend, August 25 - 26, at in Brooklyn.

For the past seven years, the Afro-Punk festival has put some of the liveliest and brightest African-American talent in rock/hip hop/punk music front-and-center, long before they hit the national stage.

Additionally, the free festival has done an impressive job in attracting popular A-list talent—such as Grammy-nominated Santigold, The Noisettes and Janelle Monae—to perform alongside of the freshmen class, giving the festival the cache of being a true vanguard of alternative punk rock music on a landscape where black talent largely has gone unheard.

Brooklyn Rhapsody at AFROPUNKFEST 2012 will showcase 12 spectacular custom bikes from Brooklyn and beyond, lined up and rumbling to be judged as the best bagger, chopper, bobber, paint and the top award of Best in Show.

In addition, the Nike Battle For the Streets Skate Competition, the largest street skate competition in NYC will return this year with the nation’s top amateur skaters in a competition to be judged by top professionals in both sports.
