WHAT: DanceAfrica

WHY GO:  Created in 1977, DanceAfrica is BAM's longest-running cultural program and one of America's largest and most vibrant celebrations of African and African-American dance, music and culture. This spring festival traditionally offers five dance and music performances; master classes; and the one-and-only DanceAfrica outdoor bazaar, a global marketplace for African, African-American, and Caribbean arts, crafts, and food featuring over 200 vendors and attracting up to 30,000 visitors per year.

WHY GO: In partnership with HYCIDE Magazine and the Whitman Tenants Association, this month's Public Exchange Series event features a special outdoor concert by street dance king Storyboard P.
MoCADA’s PUBLIC EXCHANGE series is a monthly community event that brings together groundbreaking programming to traditionally underrepresented areas of Public Housing in Brooklyn. The series utilizes arts programming and performances to connect the social divide between the Public Housing sector and the larger Brooklyn community.
Supported in part by BAM Dance Africa, Rockeller Foundation, Brooklyn Community Foundation, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services' Museums for America grant.
