I would like to invite you to come and check out my pop up gallery project  entitled: The Stoop Gallery.   There will be an upcoming Stoop Gallery on this Saturday July 28, 2012.

The theme for this months Stoop Gallery is: Digging into the Personal Archive, Work inspired by what is hidden

Here is more info about the show below:
The Stoop Gallery has asked artists to submit work that  inspired by personal histories, and historical archives.  The stoop gallery  has asked artists to consider what can be found in our personal archives, what is left behind and how what is hidden just beneath the surface affects the everyday. I have attached a flier for the event.  The show will take place at:

309 Halsey Streetbtwn. Marcus Garvey and ThroopC - Kingston/ Throop2pm -6pm

There will be visual art, live music, and poetry and a screening of Crooklyn, in close proximity,  at  8 pm at Brooklyn Swirl, located at:
445 Marcus Garvey Blvdbtwn. Macon and Macdonough
There is more information about the Stoop Gallery on the site:  The Stoop Gallery

The Stoop Gallery is a space where artists display works in public spaces throughout the borough of Brooklyn. Some neighborhoods include, Fort Greene, East New York, Crown Heights, Flatbush, Bedford Stuyvesant, and Brighton Beach. The Gallery will push the boundaries of fine art in a public art space and encourage community engagement with fine art in a neighborhood setting. The art shows will take place on stoops in Brooklyn where homeowners will volunteer their stoops and host the shows. The Stoop Gallery exhibitions will take place on Saturdays and/ or Sundays, once per month during the Summer and Fall and each show will feature three visual artists. There will also be opportunities to feature one installation artist, who will be able to transform an entire stoop with their installation piece.

Please let me know if there is any additional information that is needed.

Thanks,

Charmaine

Chris Rock said it best, African Americans are shown more 'love' for doing a 'bid' and getting outRead More of prison than to graduate school with a degree. When this 'hood mentality' starts to change, then you will see more than a trickle of AA passing advanced math courses.
