For the second year running, Jam On DUMBO welcomes all NYC-area families to a FREE Summer Family Music Festival.

On Saturday, Aug. 4, from noon to 4 p.m., iconic DUMBO restaurant Superfine (126 Front Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201) will transform into a kiddie concert venue featuring three of Brooklyn’s coolest acts: Jeff Newell’s New Trad Trio, which combines elements of a New Orleans brass band with those of a modern jazz group; the sweet voice of Jen Milich from famed kids’ rock band AudraRox; and Shine & The Moonbeams, bringing a smooth R&B sound to kid-friendly themes.

Dynamic hula-hoop performance artist Miss Saturn will emcee, showing off her impressive hooping skills between bands.

And D.M. Wilding, of DUMBO’s Creatively Wild Art Studio, will be hosting an art activity table where kids will be able to make their own “found art.” She will also oversee a graffiti art mural project where kids can express themselves; the mural’s theme will be “I Love DUMBO Street Art.”

Jam On DUMBO was founded in late 2010 by a group of local parents looking to bring more children’s music programming to the cobblestone-lined neighborhood known as DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). Jam On has hosted a series of community events, including a Winter Concert Series, a Musical Halloween Parade, and Music Week 2012 at P.S. 307.

Chris Rock said it best, African Americans are shown more 'love' for doing a 'bid' and getting outRead More of prison than to graduate school with a degree. When this 'hood mentality' starts to change, then you will see more than a trickle of AA passing advanced math courses.
