Art is more than just an aesthetic. I believe art is healing and holdsthe power to bring joy and tranquility. As I explore themes of travel andnature in my artwork, the healing qualities of experiencing travel and natureare displayed. A person travels for several reasons including business, a retreat,a vacation, or to learn about other cultures. Usually they have a desire to “get awayfrom it all” and to leave the stresses of their daily routines.

My work takes the viewer to their desired destination and depicts the rich culture of thatlocation at a particular point in time. I work in a variety of styles including collage, abstract, and multi-media. Through the use of multi-media embellishments and layering to create texture, viewers are allowed to explore places and themes as if they were right there. My broad range of interests including fashion, home décor, design, and travel help form the foundation to my eclectic style.
I’ve always loved working with embellishments and beading for a three-dimensional effect. The use of these materials create a sense of realism and cause objects to stand out in my works. These and other articles such as foliage and landscaping make my paintings and the objects or locations they depict tangible. This type of texturized painting is what I’m most comfortable with and the juxtaposition of colors and images to form these museum-quality composition pieces fit well with any home décor.
I am inspired by the works of Romare Bearden, Jean Michel Basquiat, and Picasso, amongothers. Bearden’s and Picasso’s colorful in-depth collages have particularly made an impact on my own works. My love for travel and the experience it brings infuses itself into those works.
