Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra to Mark 40th Anniversary at Brooklyn Museum

Orchestra moves to the Brooklyn Museum of Art for its 40th anniversary.

The Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra will present its first concert of its 40th anniversary season at the Brooklyn Museum on Oct. 20 at 2 p.m.

After performing for 37 of its 39-year history at the Church of St. Ann and the Holy Trinity in Brooklyn Heights, the orchestra moving to the Brooklyn Museum of Art, where it will present a season of five concerts in the Iris and Gerald Cantor Auditorium. 

Under the leadership of British conductor Nick Armstrong, the orchestra's program includes Brahms' Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Marquez: Danzon No. 2 and Rastegar's Ode To Youth.

"We are thrilled to be at The Brooklyn Museum and look forward to reaching a new audience of museum goers and Brooklynites." Armstrong said in a statement. "This season we will be revisiting masterpieces of the orchestra repertoire as well as continuing our commitment to present contemporary Brooklyn composers."

All of the concerts in the 2013-14 season will take place on Sunday afternoons at the new time of 2 p.m. Admission to the concert is $20 at the door or $18 online. Children are free and seniors and Brooklyn museum members will be charged $10.
