VIDEO: Lewis Avenue in Full Bloom

The Shops of Lewis Avenue (SOLA) held its annual end-of-the-summer soiree, drawing residents of all ages for a day of shopping and fun

This past Saturday, the Shops of Lewis Avenue (SOLA) held its annual block party and street fair, the SOLA Soiree, drawing residents from all around Bed-Stuy to a full day of shopping, shimmying and story telling.

The large block party took place on the sidewalks of Lewis Avenue, between Decatur and Hancock Streets.

This year’s soiree included a bevy of retailers and home-based businesses. Children danced, skated, participated in a story time, spelling bee and played in a virtual sandbox right outside of the Macon Branch Library.

For the adults, there was a massage station, locally grown food, live music, vendors and a wine tasting by Olivino Wines.

SOLA Soiree was the perfect end to summer and just the beginning of the what lies ahead for a growing Bedford-Stuyvesant in the seasons to come.
