Macon Street Wraps the Summer in a Jazzy Bow

The Macon St. Block Association's Evening of Jazz

The Macon Street Block Association hosted an evening of jazz yesterday on Macon Street.

For two hours, beginning at 6:30pm, the association blocked off the stretch of Macon Street between Patchen and Ralph Avenues to host The Brandon Sanders Trio, featuring saxophonist Tia Fuller.

Tia Fuller was selected to be a member of the all-female band touring with R&B star, Beyoncé. As part of the I AM..Sasha Fierce and Beyoncé Experience World Tour promoting the superstar’sCD’s, Tia has played in various venues throughout the US, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. She is a featured soloist on the Beyoncé Experience DVD (Me, Myself and I) and also made a number of television appearances on shows, such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, Today Show, Good Morning America, BET Awards, American Music Awards and Total Request Live.

It was a perfect end to a summer evening, as residents pulled out their lawn chairs for an up-close-and-personal concert, neighbors sat on their stoops and children played casually while building their music appreciation for jazz.
