Park Slope Family Health Center Helps Young Patients With Reading

Lutheran’s Park Slope Family Health Center hosted an Early Literacy Awareness Week event, in partnership with Reach Out and Read of Greater New York, on Aug. 14.

The event featured Brooklyn-based author Selina Alko, who read books to Lutheran Family Health Center patients, and their parents, that she had written and illustrated. The books included “B is for Brooklyn” and “My Subway Ride.” At the end of the event, children were given free books to take home with them.

Music Studio Takes Clinton Hill's Song to Heart

Opening a new business anywhere can be a daunting task, but in some parts of Brooklyn, there is an added degree of difficulty: the constantly changing demographics of the borough.

USTA to Host Two Free Youth Tennis Events in Queens This Month

The United States Tennis Association is offering several free events for youths throughout the five boroughs, including two in Queens, this month as part of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month.

The USTA’s free tennis play events will be held in conjunction with Nickelodeon’s 10th annual Worldwide Day of Play across the nation. The event is an effort to get children interested in playing tennis.

Prospect Park Zoo Rescues Sea Lions

The Prospect Park Zoo is now home to two sea lions rescued earlier this year on the California coast.

According to the zoo staff, two sea lion pups were rescued earlier this year near Point Hueneme on the Pacific Coast.
