Bed-Stuy, the Race is on!

It's still not too late to sign up for Restoration's 10K Run/Walk-- One of the liveliest community races on one of the oldest, historic routes in Brooklyn!

The race is on!

Mark your calendars now to sign up and participate in this community-wide event: October 7, 2012.

Whether you are training for a marathon or simply looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation's Annual 10K Community Run and Walk -- a part of the Bed-Stuy Alive! calendar of activities -- is one of the premier 10K’s held in all of NYC and on one of the oldest routes in Brooklyn.

Given its proximity to the NYC Marathon, many athletes see Restoration’s 10K as a “warm up” to their long-distance run in November. However, people of all fitness levels and ages participate in this lively community race each year. And this year, Restoration has added for the first time a bicycle race.

"Restoration has been doing this event for 31 years, and people look forward to it throughout the borough, the city and tri-state region," said Tracey Capers, vice president of programming at Resotration. "It's a great opportunity for people, not only to focus on health, but really celebrate the neighborhood assets and see the architectural richness of Bed-Stuy.

"Over the last 8 years, we've tied the race to Bed-Stuy Alive! because we really want to highlight everything the neighborhood has to offer, and the run is a key way to do that. "
