A litany of activities were planned for Family Day this past Saturday in Von King Park: Free entertainment all day for children, Knicks KIA Mobile Game Vehicle with Xbox systems, face painting, vendors, comedy, dance performances in the Amphitheatre and much, much more.
However, aside from some performances on the soundstage and a large barbeque in the west wing of the park, a lot of the things promised seemed to be missing. And it might have served the Parks Department well at least to cut the grass in the park and manicure the lawn in preparation.
Nevertheless, the party did go on. It felt like one big, old-school family reunion. And I guess at the end of the day, when it comes to family, it's about how it makes you feel and not what it looks like.

And judging from the many smiling faces milling about the park, people felt pretty darn good.
