5 Things You Should Know This Week

Bed-Stuy Happenings for December 6th - 12th

1.     This week, the Department of Education will announce the schools slated for closure due to underperformance. Stay tuned, because we will have an up-to-the minute update and story on how fared, after this announcement. But in the meantime, check out this story: which ran on Bed-Stuy Patch last week.

2.     More news on : Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries, along with State Senator Eric Adams are planning to challenge the waiver of Black in court and will file a suit.

"Commissioner Steiner has done a grave disservice to the children of the New York City public school system," said Jeffries. "Our schools deserve a qualified chancellor, not someone who requires a private tutor on the public payroll to make up for her deficient resume." The announcement of the suit may come this week, and if so, you heard it from us first.
