Lantern Organization Hosts Thanksgiving Dinner

Lantern Community Services -- the non-profit social services affiliate of the affordable supportive housing developer, Lantern Organization -- is hosting a Thanksgiving feast for the residents of Clover Hall. Lantern's Director of Food & Nutrition, along with their chefs, will be preparing a "can free" meal, which will consist of all fresh ingredients for staple Thanksgiving sides cooked from scratch and several roasted turkeys.

This tradition stems from Lantern Organization's dedication to improving the health and well-being of their residents. Along with offering programs and ammenities to promote physical health-- such as recreation areas and gardening & cooking classes-- residents are offered nutritional counseling and are often taken to farmer's markets by a dietician to help them adopt healthy eating habits.

Including Clover Hall, Lantern is preparing about 300 homecooked Thanksgiving meals for tenants in several of their buildings in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Chris Rock said it best, African Americans are shown more 'love' for doing a 'bid' and getting outRead More of prison than to graduate school with a degree. When this 'hood mentality' starts to change, then you will see more than a trickle of AA passing advanced math courses.
