Donation Request: 81st Precinct Community Council Senior Thanksgiving Dinner

The 81st Precinct Community Council is still seeking volunteers and donations for their annual Senior Thanksgiving Dinner, held on Tuesday, November 20th at The Glorious Church of God & Christ at Marcus Garvey and Halsey Street at noon. This is a 100% community/volunteer event, with block associations and individuals all working together to feed the elderly on one of the biggest food-based celebrations of the year.

Donations include cooked dishes and raw ingredients, money to purchase additional ingredients, and assistance in the kitchen, serving, and cleaning up.

The 81st Precinct serves Bed-Stuy from Marcus Garvey to Saratoga, Broadway to Atlantic Avenue.

If you'd like to participate, please download, print, and complete the attached donation form and bring it with you to the next 81st Precinct Community Council meeting this Tuesday, November 13th at PS 305 on Monroe between Ralph and Patchen at 7pm. You can also drop your donation form along with any uncooked donations to the 81st Precinct on Ralph and Quincy Street by Friday, November 16th. If you have any questions, you can contact the Community Council at 718-574-0433.

If you know of any seniors on your block that would like to attend this dinner, please share the details with them. If you have any seniors that live alone and have limited mobility, please call the Community Council at 718-574-0433 with their name and address. The Community Affairs Officers deliver meals to the shut-in elderly and want to make sure they reach as many as they can.

Chris Rock said it best, African Americans are shown more 'love' for doing a 'bid' and getting outRead More of prison than to graduate school with a degree. When this 'hood mentality' starts to change, then you will see more than a trickle of AA passing advanced math courses.
