Hammer-Wielding Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested

19-year-old male tied to attacks on two women in Bed-Stuy and Brownsville.

Police identified a man suspected in two brutal sexual assaults occurring within hours of each other in Central Brooklyn.

Anthony Moore, 19, of Queens, was arrested by police Friday in connection with the attacks, which took place on the morning of April 9.

, who police said was hit in the back of the head with a hammer and forced to perform a sexual act at around 12:40 a.m. in the vicinity of Monroe Street in Bed-Stuy. The woman later walked to Woodhull Hospital, where she was admitted for treatment.

According to police, the second attack occurred at around 11 a.m. later that day on Stone Avenue in Brownsville—again with a hammer used as a weapon, this time against a 22-year-old woman, who managed to fight off her attacker as he tried to rape her in the lobby of her apartment building.

As of Friday evening, charges against Moore were still pending.
