'Make Music New York' on its way to Bed-Stuy

A one-day festival of more than 1,000 free concerts in parks and streets across New York City's five boroughs kicks off Thursday, June 21

Bed-Stuy, are you ready?

On Thursday, June 21, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., musicians of all ages and genres will perform in 400 public spaces across New York City's five boroughs.

The annual event known as "Make Music New York" is Mayor Bloomberg's dreamchild, and it returns this week with more than 1,000 free concerts to kick off the first day of summer!

You can expect to see bands, singers and all types of music-makers taking up in places like churches, community gardens, sidewalks, playgrounds, skate parks, virtually anywhere there's space in your neighborhood.

In Bedford-Stuyvesant, 13 public spaces have been designated for performances. Check the following schedules and locations, and make sure you at some point you catch some of this aural extravaganza:

CABS Nursing Home, 270 Nostrand Avenue, 5:00 p.m., R&B

Denim Lounge, 1114 Fulton Street, 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., a variety of bands and DJ sets

Denim Cafe, 1223 Bedford Avenue, 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., a variety of bands and DJ sets

Clifton Place Memorial Garden, 1035 Bedford Avenue, 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., hip hop, funk, soul and disco
