Bed-Stuy Resident Wins Big in Lottery

Melissa Gladney of Bed-Stuy, along with six other winners from Long Island and Queens gathered at Roosevelt Field in Garden City yesterday to collect their winnings

Melissa Gladney, a 34-year-old healthcare worker from Bedford-Stuyvesant, received some great news on May 31. She won the New York Lottery!

Gladney's winnings earned her the "$1,000 A Week for Life top prize, guaranteeing her a minimum prize of $1 million. Gladney, along with six other winners from Long Island and Queens gathered at the upscale Roosevelt Field in Garden City yesterday to collect their respective winnings.

The top prize of $4 million went to Susan Machtinger, 62, of East Meadow, Nassau County. She credits her Lotto win to her no-nonsense approach to buying Lottery tickets. “I ask the retailer to give me his luckiest Lotto ticket,” explained the retired office equipment account representative.
