Some Think Bed-Stuy may Decide the Race in the 8th C.D.
The neighborhood may be at the center of a hot Democratic primary race for Congress.
City Councilman Charles Barron and Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries are focusing their campaigning efforts on Bed-Stuy, which political insiders say may decide the race, according to the New York Daily News.
“It's the Ohio of the district,” a Jeffries campaign staffer told the Daily News, referring to Ohio’s swing state status in Presidential elections.
According to the article, with record low voter turnout expected for the June 26 Democratic primary election, Barron and Jeffries have “flooded” Bed-Stuy with pamphlets and door-to-door stops over the past few weeks, says residents.

The Daily News says that neither candidate has a majority backing in the neighborhood, and based on prior numbers, as many as 9,000 are up for grabs.
Barron has set up “makeshift campaign headquarters” at 456 Nostrand Avenue – Sistas' Place diner – while Jeffries has been seen knocking on doors in the neighborhood and handing out literature, says the paper.
